March 2011, requires detectors to be installed in the immediate vicinity of all bedrooms in dwelling units and in sleeping units of occupancies which include sleeping rooms, such as apartment buildings. Alarms required in any newly constructed homes or apartment buildings as well as any of these buildings which have had construction work done on them such that the work required a building permit. Specific in that alarms are required in one and two family dwellings outside each sleeping area and in the immediate vicinity of all bedrooms of homes that have fuel-fired appliances and in homes with attached garages.
